I am a graduate student in Scribner's Lab at Michigan State University and currently working towards my PhD degree in the Department of Fisheries & Wildlife and the Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, and Behavior program. My dissertation focusing studies on bacterial community ecology in fish gut. This project aims to study the colonization dynamics of microflora in the developing gastrointestinaI tract of larval sturgeon and channel catfish. Studies involve investigation of factors affecting the successional process of these microflora and how the processes interact with phenotypic and physiological response by fish. To accomplish my research, I am utilizing next-generation sequencing technologies such as 16S rRNA gene sequencing and bioinformatics tools. I also have broad interest in ecology, evolutionary, and genetics as part of my project and I do enjoy field sampling because it bring me closer to the nature.
